Koruโs KRW Chats YouTube Live
Join us this week on February 17th at 5:30 PM for our third YouTube Live!
In our first episode, Alex Seigel dives into Colin Kirts background, wellness philosophy and how it evolved to become what it is today.
Our inner energies are influenced by the cycles of the sun and moon and the movements of the Earth so it is not coincidental that all cultures and traditions at one point based their way of life on these cycles.
As we approach March Equinox to bring in the Spring, come and join us in this special gathering.
You will discover how connected we are to the stars and all living beings on this planet and learn how this connection is what allows us to find healing and understanding in the use of plant medicine.
What is cacao?
Cacao is one of the ancient plant medicines used by natives in Mexico, Central and part of South America.ย It is known as a heart opener because it stimulates blood circulation which increases activity in the brain and nervous system.ย As it does this, it energetically connects the mind with the heart allowing us to be in tune with ourselves and those around us.
Cacao also promotes joy, acceptance and excitement for life and yet it keeps us grounded and aware.
Who are we?
Kinti-illya was born out of the idea of sharing our personal and communal experience with ancestral traditions and the commitment to keep them alive.
Carolina has been working and training with natives in Peru for over ten years where she received the title of Paqo or Inca mesa carrier.ย She has been part of and has hosted multiple national and international plant medicine and self-discovery retreats.ย Certified Yoga instructor since 2015, she also practices Tibetan Buddhism and is recognized as a holistic massage therapist.
Shane is a world traveler, hiking guide and certified Tai Chi instructor.ย He has been working with ancestral plant medicines for over six years.
One of the common things about plant medicines is that participants have a hard time putting into words what they have experienced.ย Many of them agree that it is only when you are sitting in the circle that you can understand what happens to your body, mind and soul.ย We hope you can join us and live the experience yourself.
Munay,
Carolina & Shane
The Health Effects of Mouth Breathing
When you walk into Koru, you may notice that the walls read, โBREATHE MOVE NOURISH CREATE,โ โThe only thing you need to do is breathe,โ and โAir is the one thing we all need, all the time, no matter what." Breathing is a core part of the ethos of Koru and fundamental to what we teach.
So, what are the health effects from mouth breathing?
Risk of higher blood pressure
Risk of developing sleep apnea
Risk of higher stress levels
Harmful for your nervous system
How can you work on resolving mouth breathing? According to the James Nestor, author of bestseller Breathe, here are a few methods:
Try to breathe in about five to six seconds in and five to six seconds out for a few rounds
If youโre feeling panicked or anxious, remember to breathe through your nose
Practice slower breathing to increase your lung capacity โ a lot people are only using 10-15% of their lung capacity
Overtime you may notice you have become comfortable breathing less, using the breath more efficiently taking slower inhales and exhales, opposed to constant breaths.
Note:ย We are back to work with one-on-one sessions at Koru Real Wellness in Doylestown. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please reach out to our email: info@wearekoru.com.ย
